WHEN ECONOMIC RATIONALITY MEETS ALTRUISM- A PHILANTHROPIC APPROACH OF MICRO SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES: REALISM OR A HOAX

Abstract

The present chapter is designed to study and analyse various initiatives taken by Enterprises of Sports Goods industry under MSME Sector. It includes justification regarding the responsibilities performed by MSMEs of Sports Goods Industry primarily towards Society and Environment in the form of Children’s Welfare, Health Care sector, Working for Upliftment of the poor, promoting Education, Plantation of trees, etc; and social security initiatives in context of Employees in the form of Separate Budget Allocation, Deduction towards Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI), Payment to the workers, facilities provided to the workers, Compensation provided to the workers in case of Injury, Provision of doctor’s visit, paid holidays, etc. Two variables/ parameters namely Exports’ Share and Category (whether Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise) of the Enterprise have been analysed to find out their relationship with social security measures and innovative initiatives taken by MSMEs.
